What’s 5’ and awesome???? Not me I’m 5’8” ππbut what I’m talking about is the project for this coming weekend. This pinecone tree project is a result of my Mom and I spending COUNTLESS hours collecting and gathering pinecones, pods, and more from Wyoming and other areas of the country. It’s the only time I will be doing this project so if you want to sign up the time is now. I will be closing registration on Thursday evening. The base for these is 1/2” plywood and we have hangers on the backs already OR they can be leaners. We will have light refreshments but you can always bring your own. More details on the website and I will put the link below in comments.
I think we should do this class on the 21st of December In celebration of The first day of winter!! It’s going to be more sip n paint style taking just 1.5-2 hours max instead of 3-4 like my normal classes and using just paint so I can keep the cost low for everyone.
It will be $45 per person and it’s 22” tall and 17” wide. Class would start at 1 and end at 2:30 or 3 at the latest. Let me know if you’re interested!!
πClass is online. I’ll post link in comments π
Come join us for a super special project resulting from hundreds of hours of collecting and gathering. This unique tree will take about 4 hours to complete. This can be a porch leaner or it can be hung up and we have provided hangers on the back. The project will last for so many years. This seating in class is really limited because these are larger projects. Be ready to brainstorm and do a lot of hot glueing. Classes are non refundable so please check your schedule before you sign up. If you can’t make it you are welcome to send someone in your place. Light refreshments will be provided but please feel free to bring whatever you want to eat or drink. @gail_young51 and @sarah_anne_shearer can’t wait!!!!
We celebrated Sophia with her friends at the store on Sunday. It was SO fun. 13!!!! It’s so crazy to see these kiddos growing up. We did a Shrek ish themed party with Gingy decorating, fairy godmother potions of all sorts and Shrek boxes. The kids had fun and had way too much sugar πππππ€£π€£β€οΈβ€οΈ
You do NOT want to miss this class. Repurposed alfalfa cutter bee homes that were replaced last spring with new homes. We are painting, stenciling, transferring, learning about layers and paint washes. It will be FUN. Sign up online or in the store. I can message you the link@if you want more info. πβ€οΈπ
Just over a week awayππ. This class is SO unique and relaxing. You will learn how to pour resin into silicone moulds, use gilding wax, stencil, and blend paint colors with different techniques. You will leave with an awesome piece for your wall. The finished piece will be roughly 2 feet wide and 14-18” tall. You can get more details on our website.

It’s been a minute since I have posted so here’s a two for one πππ. The kids and I (Sarah) have been over in Newcastle visiting my family and meeting family we have never been able to meet before. It was so special. Plus we needed to help my dad build a Rock wall that was collapsing. My Parents live in a house that was built in the early 1900s and the landscaping is phenomenal but things are starting to need repaired. I’m sorry I missed so many of you while I was gone, but I will be back in the store next week if you need me and I will be getting caught up on phone calls.

OK, this post is not about paint. But it’s about one of the best summer side dishes that I have ever made. It’s so dang good. It’s called dill pickle pasta salad. You can find a bunch of recipes online. What I did though that I think makes it extra good Is after you cook the noodles you soak them in pickle juice for an hour and then I didn’t measure I just kind of dumped stuff together, but I think the key is using fresh dill. And loootS of pickles and then bacon right before serving.
There is my painting tip for the dayπβ€οΈπ

I can’t wait share thisπππ. This was a huge transformation. I will share the process and better photos in the next week but I love love how this turned out. An old scuzzy Hope chest now beautiful and an orange 90s dresser totally updated. ππ I loooooooove paint and elbow grease. Saving old furniture from the landfill.
Have you tried color drenching? This on-trend take on color—also known as a monochrome color scheme—means filling a room with different shades of one hue. Let us know which look is your favoriteπ

This month, we’re bringing back a fan fave series by Benjamin Moore! Paint Colors By Direction, which can help you figure out which hues will look best in your space based on the natural light coming from the direction the room faces. We’re starting with North, so take a look through to get started, then come in to our store and we can get you the right paints!
All I have left to do on this custom piece is the hardware and a few other subtle things including getting the inside shelves I had to strip the nasty contact paper off to match back up with the new style. Here is the request I got from my client in quotes below and you can see progress from start (the orange orange piece with less dimension) to finish where I added more dimension and toned down the orange while still leaving the original stain in place. Here are some photos of the dresser… “We’re not looking for a complete overhaul, but a slight touch up (some TLC) to bring it up to par. We’re thinking a French provinciano look with some lighter color/distressing throughout (that keeps the original stain in place). Here are some photos I found as examples… Not sure whether any of this is possible. π€£”
The last photo circled in red was the inspiration photo. I’ve never done a project quite like this so it was a fun challenge. Also the scroll piece from the very top got pulled off. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t original to the piece and was added added on later.
Summer painting projects are on the horizon. Start getting your inspiration. Swipe through to see them all, then make a note of your favorite!

I know I have shared this before, but I just want to say how important I think it is to keep using things when possible!!!!!! Things can be made beautiful again and they’re not perfect, are we? You wouldn’t believe how many tons of furniture go to the landfill every year. It’s sickening and scary. So here’s some inspiration for ya!!! I’ve done and helped MANY people fix up what they have to last longer!!! Let us know if you need help!!
Somebody used rubber cement or something crazy sticky to glue down their “liners” on the shelves of this old antique piece. I had to heat gun it off and I absolutely hate using any sort of stripper, but it was necessary and it’s working great. Stay tuned for progress pics. This is a huge piece that’s been passed down from family members so definitely sentimental but needing a refresh.
Gorgeous piece by one of our amazing customers! Products used: Hampton Olive Silk Paint, clear and brown wax, Spanish oak Stain topped with Paragon Matte. πππ. Her goal was to update and refresh this piece while maintaining the awesome character of this antique. I’d say she NAILED it!!!! What do you think?!?
Swipe through to see the epic journey of the blue heron custom driftwood painting by @sarah_anne_shearer . There were some terrifying moments (π«£ππ«£) like when the bottom part of the painting gets all crazy and bright, and then those ridiculous grasses try to grow and all that had to be sanded back off several times because I was trying different things and I feel like in the end I reached the correct resolution so make sure you swipe through to see the final result otherwise you’re gonna be scared π€π€π³π³ππ

Working through some neck stuff today by mindlessly sanding for 5 hours in the sun. It was a beautiful day I think I even got burned. Plus the indentations from my mask added to my crows feet by my eyes so I aged 10 years in my face as well ππ€£π
You know when you sleep wrong and you can’t move your neck????!!!?! What’s up with that? ππ€π« π΅π«π¬
Fiiiiiiinally getting to things that just don’t want to be done but NEED to be finished. Poppy painting using all @dixiebellepaint products and the frame was even repainted with the bronze patina paint so it’s not obnoxiously bright brass. I wish pics did this piece justice but they don’t. It’s 41”x50” ish and fuuuuuullll of texture and so many layers my phone camera can’t do it justice. #bighornpaint #poppies #artistsoninstagram
I’m OBSESSED!!!!!!!!! I just spent the last four hours driving and collecting these and then unloading them into the store. They are HEAVY. I wasn’t expecting that πππππ I cannot wait to create the best repurposed class I’m already on Pinterestπ€£π€£πππ€©π€©. This class will be in mid June as I celebrate my 40th birthday day π¬ AND to celebrate the return of my favorite person who you may or may not know. It’s gonna be epic. I love repurposing and giving new life to old things!!!!!! We need more of that and LESS waste. #bighornpaint #repurposed #class
Suuuuuuuper challenging and rewarding collaboration between Sarah and Kathy. This chair was ROUGH with a pretty wild faux wood grain and lots of structural problems. Refreshing this chair while maintaining the history was the goal. We figured out WHY the wood graining was there…….the chair was made up of 4 different species of wood!!!! So we embraced that rather than doing a faux grain. We sanded, stained, clear coated, and Kathy did the caning. It’s refreshed and ready to go home. We love how it turned out. What do you think?? #bighornpaint #codywyoming #smallbusiness #artist #furniturerefinishing
We are doing it again!! Mother’s Day Succulent planter class with succulents from @pollen_landscapeswy
It was SO fun last year I want to do it again. The last picture is a few of my succulents from last year they are getting so big and have blossomed a few times. I’ll put the class online today….it filled up so fast last year so if you want to do it sign up right away. The class will be at 1:00 May 5th
Thank you to all our wonderful customers who were able to make it today. I didn’t get many pictures because we were so busy chatting with our peeps. A special thanks to our Benjamin Moore rep Tim for helping us put this event on and Ted for making our food. We felt really supported today and we thank you ALL for continuing to come to our store. We had a huge turnout πππ. If you weren’t able to make it don’t worry! We had so much fun today that we will definitely do it again next year.

A short excerpt: Blending Business with Caring Andy Shearer, owner of Big Horn Paint in Cody, WY, tries to take the guesswork out of painting projects. To help ensure optimal results, he stocks only premium-quality paints and stains. Brand names include Benjamin Moore, Pratt & Lambert, Old Masters, and Sashco. Andy also uses his custom tinting and matching expertise to ensure customers have the right products for their jobs. “Someone can bring in a piece of paint, a little chip maybe the size of a dime, and then I can match that as close as possible to the right sheen and color,” Andy says. Andy will even visit jobs sites, both large and small, to provide specialized assistance. “I’ll go out with the contractor or homeowner who has questions about what to use,” he said. “I do a lot of technical calls, helping people figure out what they need.” To see the entire article, click here: https://www.wyomingsbdc.org/success-stories/big-horn-paint/ Click here to book a Free Color Consult
